Tex shifted from her slumber, drawing a deep breath in through her maw. She stretched with a cat-like grace, slipping from the coiling embrace of her still slumbering roommate. She turned towards the window, looking up at the stars that twinkled in the sky, the moon shining down upon the ruined landscape and dying forest below. She slipped through the dark hallways with an unrivalled grace, her claws silent on the dirty, carpeted floor of the inn. She vaulted herself through an open window in the lobby, throwing herself into the inky darkness.

The night settled over its newest predator like a concealing blanket, camouflaging her pearly pink and white skin. She sauntered through the underbrush, her huge claws just as silent as a tiny mouse pittering through the trail. There was a noisy crack that broke the silence, a small tree toppling as her hooked claws gripped and yanked at the base. The bark was a silver that seemed to glitter like a star in the shadows, small black blemishes marking up and down the thin, delicate trunk like ash. The trunk cracked, releasing itself from the roots and base. She ambled back and dropped the small tree in her room through her window. It wasnt long before she found another sapling to remove from the ground, collecting multiple of the silver limbs from around the forest surrounding the inn. She shuffled back through the snowy, slushy trail with her natural treasure. She plodded through the inn, wiping her feet on the welcome mat as she walked towards her hallway. Tex walked into the room and piled the large pillars of birch in the center of the room, pulling the mattresses near them with the help of her much larger and stronger roommate.

They both got to work like bees, using the long, silver branches like molding, nailing the trunks in every corner of the room until they framed the dark red walls. Tex hurried out of the room to grab several new items for the decorations.

She hustled back in colourful fall leaves, twine, several books, and a lantern. Absolem had nailed up several thicker branches in parallel rows in a small box on the wall. Tex approached the natural-looking shelf and began to stack the books onto it, giving the room a much more welcoming and homely feel, much less creepy and cell-like than it had previously been.

Tex used Absolem's tail like a stool as she tied twine around the ceiling corners of the birch frame, pulling them into the middle with the shape-shifter's help, before she tied the lantern with all four pieces, letting it dangled from the very center and top of the room. She stepped back to admire their work, before she jogged out of the room with a new idea that could add to the fairy-like aesthetic of the room. The door opened to reveal her with small chandelier lightbulbs in her hands with twine hanging around her neck.

The two roommates worked on tying up the bulbs upside down from the twine that led to the lamp, Tex retrieving moss and stones to put inside the delicate pieces of glass.

The sun was dipping below the horizon when they had finished the room, Tex curling up on the mattresses that had been pushed together under the glowing lantern. She heaved a content sigh, feeling Absolem move onto the cushions and wrap her body with his scaled tail. It wasnt long before she was peacefully asleep in their newly changed room.
